3.3: Stative Verbs and the Present Perfect

Stative verbs describe states or conditions rather than actions. They are often used with the Present Perfect tense to emphasize the present result of a past action or state. Examples of stative verbs include “know,” “believe,” “own,” and “understand.” For example:

I have known her for many years.

They have owned that house since 2005.
